Wall.
Explosion.
Like fire blossoming from a bud.
Shards of glass and metal spray from the center of the bloom.
I feel the vibrations in my chest,
Hear the ringing in my ears.
Disoriented.
I crouch on my hand and knees,
Head hanging down.
I shake my head,
Trying to clear the blur in my vision.
Scrambling to my feet,
Looking around,
The world spinning,
Alarms ringing,
No, not ringing,
My head is ringing.
Reaching up to touch my numb forehead,
Fingers come away red.
Choking on the dusty air,
I stand in a sea of fleeing people.
Facing a pile of smoke and debris,
Noticing the wall isn’t where it used to be.
