Only a Fool
I was foolish once
So vibrant and loving
I met someone I thought I could love forever
We rushed in and burned brighter than anything
I fell so madly with someone I knew nothing about
We made love
I regret giving it all to the first guy to say good bye
I was not much younger now
I'm probably just as foolish
I know now to take my time
Learning things through physical touch is only good for school
Not for people you know nothing about
Daily I find it disgusting to have given it all away
Especially to someone I knew nothing about
And it was because of him I swore to take my time
I had to figure people out on my own
I had to live in the real world for once
Completely alone
So I swore daily to take my time
With everyone
I swore to learn the person for engaging
Now I just see foolish people rush in to love
Or maybe they are just desparate like I was
Not many have the soul to give away everything to no one
Idiots give it all away to the first partner
And fools fall too fast
That's what I've learned from my regrets
Regrets I have made over and over
And love is so much more fulfiling
When it's with someone you know
Sure, maybe love is more thrilling
If you have a lot to learn about the person
But nothing compares to how it feels to know your lover
So I thank him
For giving me this wisdom to learn
Rather than go for it like an idiot
It's humbling thing to fall for someone you know
To not ever have to worry about their character
Or to know signs of distress
To already have such trust
How amazing it is to have a relationship
That you don't have to struggle to build
So please, learn a person before loving a person
Take it from an old fool's mouth
That there is no comparison of love already known

I gave everything up to the first love. I was so much better than that, but I was even dumber at the time. Please, fall for someone you already know about very well. Don't persue someone you know nothing about. It is much better to date someone you know the habits of fairly well, and it makes the bonding quicker and stronger. Don't date a stranger just because they are a door to love.
