I Missed My Train
I had a dream that I missed the train
me wind wind wind train train train window train train door train train face train
9:52 train arrives,
9:53 I arrive,
and all is lost.
Crumple the map of Manhattan subways in my hand,
the echoey spidery veins of the city
reduced to a sweaty clump
in my hand.
A camera with empty storage in my bag
like a high-security vault lacking its bloodred crystal.
Man with trumpet plays in corner,
coins tumbling on coins
I want to drop my entire wallet
in his case
because it just sounds so good so good
honey tea to my throat, honey tea to my ears.
Noses crinkles to scent of urine
Eyes blink spastically to the stab of sunlight
ow.
I missed my train
and all is lost.
