Your Father's Son
I have lived through many lives,
some so short like those of flies,
and yet a few that were hard good byes.
But with all those I love but one.
He was born in my doors,
nursed in my corridors,
and learned to walk on my floors.
He became a part of me.
Truly I have never known,
such innocence to be sown,
in the company of a heart of stone.
He was born of cruelty.
Cruelty was not always so,
once he was free of his foe,
but soon he could not say no.
He lost himself and then his son.
She tried to stop the poisons flow,
but all she got was his blow,
she tried to lift what fell so low,
He lost her then and she took their son.
Before she turned from him to run,
she said to words that weighed a ton,
you've become your father's,
son.
