When life is unbearable,
I squeeze my eyes shut and
Welcome pain.
I see the misery of this
Forsaken world
And
        I
           cry.
I see starving children
Clutching their starved mothers
Waiting for food that will never come
And
         I
            cry.
I see young girls being shot
For wanting to read
For dreaming of an education,
A better life
And
       I
         cry.
I see a child whose hands look worn
And his eyes have seen things
Most children can't comprehend
And
       I
          cry.
How could a world so full of suffering
And biased misery ever let in
Sunlight?
How could there ever be good
In a world like this?
How could the light shine through
The smoke and the pollution that
Is humanity?
How could there ever be light
In a world so dark?

        ...
Without the light,
What would be the point in living?
What would be the point for
A helpless mother, a dreamless girl,
And a futureless child, to live in a world
Full of darkness?
For there is no life without light
And without light there is no
Hope.
And where there is no hope
What is the point in living?
My tears dry
And the light shines on.
