The Storm

Strong winds,
Pouring rain.
That was all I could hear.
Well, of course other than the screaming.
I turned my attention outside,
everyone was trying to take shelter.
Rubble started to leak down from the mountain tops,
The trees started to dance.
I started dancing with them.
All my stress was pushing me down,
gravity was no longer relevant.
My head, throbbing with pain.
The ache just didn´t want to go away.
I couldn't hear my own own thoughts over the complaints and sobs of my sisters.
Wondering,
  Worrying,
What would become of me?
What would happen to the rest of my family?
I turned my attention back to the window,
comforted by now what seemed to be a silent house.
Thunder shreiking outside,
lightning blinding my eyes.
All I could see was the was the rain,
striking the window over and over,
as if the two were fighting.
The storm was raging outside.
Rain,
pouring down harder and harder as the storm progressed.
Everyone was gathered on the couch.
No one said a word.
The house was as silent as a library.
Everyone concentrating on their own their own thoughts,
praying that we would live to see another day.

Then good news finally arose.
We were told that we would be safe.
Safe from the raging winds, and horrific floods.
Yeah,
I was in a typhoon.
So much for my trip to Japan.
