Blue Moon
Holding hands. Moonlight walks. Candlelit dinners.
Those were the memories.
She picks up her keys and walks out to the car.
She eases into the car.
As she's driving, she sees familiar places.
When she arrives, she gets out and goes in.
As soon as she walks in, the nostalgic air fills her senses.
"Same place as usual?"
"Yes, please."
She walks over and sits down at
a table by herself.
She reaches in her purse, and pulls out a lavender hibiscus.
"Special occasion, ma'am?"
"Yes, it's our fiftieth anniversary."
Middle school. High school. College.
Eternity.
Love.
Marriage.
Death.
Those were the memories.
