He was a stranger but
I was beginning to learn his body
His hand tightened on mine
I wanted to love him and he wanted to love me
Still holding my hand, he gave no sign of letting go
But, he whispered, afraid i would never lead him home.
And then i knew,
He had to see me down.
I wondered how i had made this journey, again.
But i knew this time it was different,
He gently released my hand, as gentle as torture could be.
I never saw him again is how i wish it could end.
It could never be again as if we had nothing,
It made me see behind me, how far I had come

It started in the spring, but then it was summertime
Two children played a strange little drama individually,
Before they made one of their own invention
It was soon fall, the children were drifting and emotions fought.
The boy helped her like know one else could
But decided, for the best, to watch his heart break
You never really know when you're scared of yourself
He’ll be so mad he missed it

This poem has phrases in its stanzas from Haper Lee's famous book To Kill A Mockingbird, along with my own writing, to create a harmony of old and new in this past and present point of view of a broken love story.

I love how the phrases from Harper Lee's to Kill a Mockingbird are placed in and fit right into the poem like a glove. Your words are beautifully written and set a somber and almost saddening tone and its wonderful. I hope to see more from you. Job well done !
