Numbered Days
At church, a man said,
“Your days are numbered.”
Six thousand days
spent on this Earth.
Every one day lived
is one day less.
Sixteen years, eight months.
Twenty-five short days.
Every day, I breathe.
Every day, I write.
Every day, I think,
wondering of a puzzling purpose.
Sixteen hours.
Exactly zero minutes past.
To the thundering heart song,
with all the days I’ve left,
I remember my numbered days
—and I live.
