Lonely Wolf
The lonely wolf howling a last cry
In the vain hope one would hear
A desperate attempt to find a friend
Hopeless desire to have someone by his side
But once again, only silence responds
Another night alone under a tree
In the cold, windy air
A gentle breeze ruffling his fur
Playing with his greying mane
An evil cackle rings in his tender ears
It’s the whistle of the wind
Subtly moving the leaves
In an intricate pattern
So they seem to laugh at him
The wither wolf lay his weary head to rest
Whistling a soft cry
A heartbreaking moan echoing in the night air
Waiting for a long lost friend
With tears in his eyes;
I could hear his cries from where I lay
I flew to him, kissing his soft muzzle
Softly caressing him
At last, he had someone to love
A perfect warmth
The night sky was our blanket
The leaves rustling shrilly over us
Peace had found him;
So he let death fly over him
And carry him across the oceans
Goodbye lone wolf
I murmur a lullaby in his ear
One of solitude, a good old friend
I’ll miss you, I whisper
At these words, his eyelids fluttered open
Death brought him back,
He wasn’t ready to leave
