Calamity
Even as she
Tries her best to
Make it sound like
She's not crying or
Dying
She certainly is
Because they
Taunt
Her with their
Mean words that she
Wants to accept
But can't because
Even as her friends they
Get carried away and
Need to realize that
She cuts deep when
She's alone and
Enjoys watching the
Crimson burgeon from
Beneath her skin as she
Marrs her arms with
Cuts that she
Knows she will
Regret later but
Won't get rid of
Because once she
Sees them it's
A reminder of
How weak she is
In comparison to
The snowy white girls
With the aesthetics and
The small lips and
Narrow hips and
She wishes that
She could get over it and
Start a new life but
They glint
Malevolently in the corner
Every time she tries to
Get away from the
Agonizing pain of
Calling her mom in the night
From stained sheets as she
Tries her best to
Wipe it all on the
Snowy white bed and
It doesn't work and
Exacerbates the problem that
Is her and her
Mom and her
Grades and her
Friends and now
Everything is pushing and
She lost a friend the first
Time she told someone and
Gained two more but
They didn't go to her school and
Were thin and
Jagged like a
Piece of
Crimped hair and
They were permanent
And she
Hoped that they would
Remind her of the
One friend she'd lost and
The two ones she'd gained
All in the same day
By doing nothing but
Staring at her bullies all day and
Crying to herself on the bathroom floor and
Realzing that the first step to
Recovery is
Acceptance and
Perseverance and
Once she'd found them
At the pit of her scarred heart
She vowed to
Never let them go
Even when the blades had rusted
And she did not cut
Anymore
