Clichéd: A Slam Poem
I find it fairly difficult to write about happiness
or anything that makes my eyes fill with light and my airy soul fly...
or anything that fills me with unending passion and selfless true love!
because
well
can't you see?
it all spurts out in these choppy clichés
I lose all sense of what I'm trying to say
I want to say
I'm happy
but I'm not just happy, it's something more!
stronger than love, stronger than joy
but then
I begin to write about the dark and the light and of spirits and souls
and the sky and the moon and the stars and the sun
and what felt so unique, expressed with this technique, now feels boring and bleak, strong ideas sounding weak!
I continue to write but it feels like a fight as I'm stuck in this plight yet I still need to write
and then
I feel sad and want to cry
I want to sob rivers and streams and oceans
I'm lost and confused
like I'm separated from
myself
I'm unsure of which road to take and I'm drowning, but nobody sees except me
So I find it fairly difficult to write about sadness
because
well
can't you see?
It all just sounds like everything else
I just sound like everything else
am I just like
everyone else?
