Ephemeral Paradise
In the midst of a lifeless existence,
One tiny spark of hope is lit:
A poem to heal me.
Then, with all the rushing force
Of an incoming tide,
I am submerged in joy,
My spirit bursting into effervescence.
Captivation overcomes my inabilities
As I open my eyes to the incandescent fire
That bursts out around my rapture;
An interlude of sunshine
In a never-ending darkness.
A midnight aurora caresses my face;
Mellifluous laughter reaches my ears
And I realize it's my own.
But all too soon,
The light becomes a memory,
Yet another wishful epoch;
A short-lived rainbow;
An ephemeral paradise.
