She Drives Me Insane
I swear to God,
this feels like a childhood crush.
like back in the fifth grade when I was in love
with Judy Rose and her box of pringles.
I really just wanted a pringle,
but Judy Rose was pretty too.
She wore butterfly clips in her hair
and it reminded me of the ones we kept
in our classroom behind the shelves of books.
She drives me crazy like in the eighth grade
when Judy Rose started wearing a bra,
and I saw it once because she was wearing a white shirt.
She wore butterflies on her chest instead of in her hair
and it was the greatest thing I had ever seen.
She drove me insane in the eleventh grade
when her legs were smooth and strong,
ment for walking miles.
Judy Rose stopped wearing butterflies
and I was sad at first, but then they reappeared
below my ribs when she grabbed onto me.
She just wanted a pencil but I wanted Judy Rose.
I am not a religious man
but I swear to God one day I will
put butterfly clips in my daughter's hair
and pack pringles in her lunchbox.
