This is the Real Me
You see me on the street,
And interact with me in the store.
I'm not pretending to be someone else;
This is the real me.
You watch me talk to people,
And talk to me yourself.
I'm not saying what I'm saying because you're new;
This is the real me.
You see me in one thing one day,
Then see me in something polar opposite another.
I don't do this because I'm trying to hide who I am;
This is the real me.
I don't care if you like me or not,
Because I am who I am.
I will not back down from those who oppose me;
Because this is the real me.

I have been through times where people have judged me for stupid reasons, and it became a struggle for me to stay positive through those times. I wrote this poem with the hopes that people who have been through or are going through the same thing know that the judgements and hate of others is a reflection of those who are doing the judging or hating, not on the one on the receiving end. For those of you who are facing your own struggles: stay strong, be positive, and know that the right people will love you for who you are. It may seem difficult now, but it will pay off in the end.
