Purgatory
There you stand,
so viciously deposed onto your wooden crucifix,
your strawberry-yellow needle guts spilling out halfheartedly.
The unceremonious cliffs of your cheekbones harbor beads of obsidian,
parting the waves of rolling ochre.
Even you, O prophet of the golden seas, couldn’t have foreseen this dark affair,
The venomous inferno that tauntingly licked at your burlap toes,
while you smoldered, shackled to your cross,
your somber blackberry eyes turned up to a burning sky.
