Too Late
As we all sit there in the car
Trying not to fall asleep at the light
Because it is too late
Too late for anything to happen
As mother drives the vehicle
Trying not to snap at her eldest son
Because it is too late
Too late to fix mistakes
As the youngest nods off backside
Trying not to smack into the window
Because it is too late
Too late to stay awake
As the eldest talks in passive aggression
Trying not to be showy with his ignorance
Because it is too late
Too late to undo the undertones
As the daughter sits passenger seat
Trying not to join in on arguments while typing this up
Because it is too late
Too late to open her mouth
As we all sit there in the car
To each their own, yet still together
Trying not to collide heads
Because it would be too late
Too late for anything to be resolved.

It was late one night and there was lots of tension in the car as we all drove back home. I decided to channel my share of the energy into writing.
