Goodbye
GOODBYE
With every scar I’ve had
you’ve made them disappear.
Life, at times, seems pointless without you.
The ocean is no longer blue
and the sun no longer shines.
The air no longer holds oxygen
and the world no longer rotates.
I shed thousands of tears at the thought of losing you
sleepless nights,
thinking of the worse
the day is coming
and reality has set in,
our time is wearing thin.
You say we’ll figure it out,
but will we?
I say “I hope so.”
and you go and make promises you might not be able to keep,
cause you know it’ll help me get some sleep.
Hope.
The one word that is keeping us together.
Hope.
The one thing that can make the days seem better.
What if all hope is lost?
What if we can't hope?
These questions haunt me,
day by day,
sleepless night by sleepless night.
Looking at you gives me the urge to cry.
To just let loose and scream and shout,
to let the world know that I’ve had it.
I’ve had it with love
I’ve had it with life.
But you’re still the only reason it all seems to make sense.
You can tell it’s killing me
but you don't bring it up because you know it'll just make it worse.
We’ll get through it.
You swear we will.
Well I hope you’re right
because I can’t have this be goodbye.
