Warrior
I come from a warrior
From a man with hard hands
Made strong from working the soil of the Earth
Large enough to cradle the tiny bodies
Of newborn babes
He gave the matter that formed my mother
She, in turn, formed me
We are from a warrior
He was not always so
But he stood for the right and
Flexed his chest muscles
Holding the abandoned spears of our
Native-American ancestors
He is a warrior
And I?
I come from a warrior tribe
We are a people who fight against all odds
Who take from the Earth
And give back
Unlimited, yes, and also undefeated
I, too, am a warrior
