Slipping Away

The wind sweeps through and tousles his hair
We lay under an oak, whose reaching branches draw us nearer
He plays with a strand of my hair and watches the world
Pass by
Ensnared within in a moment
That becomes a blur of time
Of life
Sorrow, joy, hope, despair
And yet still he is there
I reach out to hold his hand
One last time
His fingers slip through mine
