Robot
I think
That I am a robot
Someone forgot
How to put together
I know the basic greetings -
Programmed for five languages -
But beyond that my brain
Is not hardwired
For conversation
I can solve problems
But something goes on the fritz
Whenever I try:
If it's too hard,
This weird thing called
Frustration
Takes over
I perform basic functions
Among them,
Walking, driving,
Brushing my teeth,
Eating
But I'm not sure clumsiness
Was really part of the package
But there's something else,
Something they didn't expect
When they connected my wires
And activated my buttons,
When they welded the metal
And screwed in computer chips:
I have emotions
And of all the wrong ways
I could have gone
This is probably
The most heart-breaking
Of all.
