Where I'm From
Where I’m From
by Andrew Graves
I’m from an expanse of Nerf wars
and a 16th birthday -- definitely not a sweet 16.
From technology,
and a future in my grasp.
I’m from bi-yearly trips to Disney,
and the regretted death march.
From trips to Grandpa’s apartments up north,
and escaping injury from snow machines.
I’m from clean living but hectic, always moving life,
and a house that ceases to rest.
From days on the lake with swimming and tubing,
and slow walks back to the car.
I’m from technology,
learning and improving.
From attempts at YouTubing,
to casting in front of a live audience.
I’m from seeing the world and not knowing what to do,
to finding my own corner of the universe and the path I chose.
From money invested in technology and wasted on Amazon purchases,
and looking back to see my decisions.
I’m from knowing who I am or who to be,
and not wishing differently.
