A soft dream
led to Pharos.
In need of a symbol--useful and symbolic--
thus began the construction of the giant, land ho.

The first pound
began the work.
Twenty years to piece together three tiers,
up from the ground soaring to the clouds, land ho.

The light shines
welcoming boats in.
A luminous path wears into the sea,
steals fear from arriving guests, land ho.

            The       ground    shakes
she         can't     withstand.
The Earth             hiccups         and                    the   world           above trembles,
taking   down          the weak,          Alexandria's light lost,    land ho.

A looming mystery
linking to discovery.
Treasure lifted from down below, rising from its rest,
breathing in new light of day leading us to the past, land ho.
