he collects
bus tickets,
in a jar
which he keeps
atop the highest shelf,
fit only for
that of utmost importance,
and so
he keeps her there too,
and she
collects sea glass
smooth and glittering,
like his eyes,
like their reflection,
in the mirror
which holds them
and her little sister,
reading mystery novels
on her big sister’s
bed
she collects
movie ticket stubs,
and watches
those movies
with her very best friend
who doesn’t collect
anything
at all.
