A Woman Can't Survive

a woman can’t survive
by her own breath
alone
her supply is short
and time is running out
in the dark with
the engine running
bad thoughts coursing through
her head
the time has finally come
for her last breath
carbon monoxide
taking over her body
as she lay there
unconscious
with every breath she takes
the life escapes her
the memories are gone
and the pain has ended
a woman can’t survive
by her breath alone
