The smile I never showed

My stomach twirled and my cheeks flushed.
I felt like I was drifting off
into my own world.
I tasted bubblegum in my mouth
and I smelled beautiful roses all around me
I was finally somewhere
that I wanted to be.
I took in every moment
Like it was the last thing I’ll ever see.
I was finally somewhere where I belonged.
I felt my heart flutter and my hands shake.
I was nervous, of course
but I was beyond ecstatic to see where I would go.
I was excited to start the journey
that I soon would called my life.
