Pearl
I dive to the depths of the ocean;
In hopes of a small pearl,
Small, lonely, hidden in the abyss of the waves.
Dolphins, whales, sharks surround me
Crabs, seahorses, octopi crowd me
Searching, hunting, frantic for a gleam.
Darkness entraps me within the blue chasm,
Light panic stricken
Concealed underneath the caves of the silence,
Until finally,
The rare gem
Is espied.

My girlfriend's last name means "of the sea". I made a project for geometry and created this poem to be written on the waves I created on the paper. The lightness and the pearl are metaphors for what she is to me in a deep, dark, lonely person lost at sea in the depths of my mind.
