Pride vs. Honesty

“Never!” yells your Pride.
While Honesty says, “We must.”
Back and forth they contend.
Both asking, “Should we tell?”
Honesty wants to do the right thing,
“We’ve been taught to tell the truth.”
But, Pride has a different idea.
“Why break the trust we’ve built?”
The battle rages on
and Pride won’t step aside.
Then, somewhere along the
it seems that Honesty forgot to be wise.
Then just like so many other times,
When those two
go head to head--
Pride stands the victor.
