She Forgot to Remember
She remembers the happenings from the past,
But not as much from the present.
She mostly remembers the good in life;
It seems she forgets the bad.
Often she doesn't recognize those she knew so well
She asked, "Who are thos boys standing there?"
Oh, the shock when she's told they're her grandsons.
She asked, "Who is the tall man right there?"
Even more startled to learn it was her brother,
Then to find out they share the same mother.
With a roll of her eyes and as innocent as could be, she says,
"Well, I guess I forgot to remember."
Oh, at first i felt so bitter.
How could this happen?
God soon helped me realize that good comes from every trial.
When I realized she no longer complains of the heavy burdens she used to bear.
She no longer harbors anger for neighbors from so long ago.
She no longer knows the ill words she thought were said about her.
I thank God now; He knows what's best;
She's happy and content.
Thank you, God, for helping Grandma remember to forget!
