Show and Tell

I did not win this medal.
I participated for this award.
However, it was my first medal.
In 7th grade cross country,
I was as slow as a sloth.
This medal gave me something
to look at and know that I could improve.
Next year, I was the fastest
all because I was there last year.
The other trophy I wanted to bring
couldn’t fit in my backpack.
