Victory
Clock draining on the board-
Ball laid down.
30 seconds to go,
But 40 yards down.
Glance east to west
see that everyone's set.
I called hike
and that's when the ball
and I met.
With the ball in my hands,
and nerves made of steel.
Knowing bruises and scars
are the ones that heal.
I launched the ball,
getting hit from behind.
I closed the game-
Making victory mine.
With grass turned red.
From our hearts who bled.
We left the field with victory in our head.
