A Little Less Bitter
And though her grades were picture-perfect
And her parents always smiled
And her dog jumped up and down when she came home
And her bed was warm
And her closet was filled with clothes
And her skin was smooth
She was still rotten inside
Everything that mattered sliding the monsters' gullets,
And knowing that made the pills taste
a little less bitter.
