Christmas Morning
Christmas morning is here!
The gifts seem to unwrap themselves,
the children gather around the fire place,
the adults raise their glasses of champagne to the winter frost bite on their nails as if freezing were a tradition,
the lights deck themselves all down the halls,
Sarah camps out by the fire waiting for Santa Claus to come,
it is all full of glee and bliss in the room,
I am standing from the window,
outside the mansion of glory,
where I used to bathe, live, and eat roast beef along with my four sisters of a counting,
What did I miss when I decided to run far away in June?
They are happy,
and I am outside in a t-shirt and shorts too embarrassed to run in and ask for help,
They are my family,
But months have passed and they stopped looking for me,
And so I will sit on the grass,
And continue to starve as I watch them eat their feast.
