A Douglas Fir Christmas
I remember your warm skin
Making heat spread like apple cider floods the chest.
I remember feeling returning to my numb palm
While your hand held mine.
Your substitution of paternal love
Was not always sweet like a candy cane;
Sometimes you were as Krampus,
Bringing woe to naughty children.
But you were always a gift to me.
