A Seed
Skill is a seed
that you plant deep
in the soil of your soul.
And a seed
needs care to grow.
Neglect it and watch it die,
but feed it and see it thrive.
Care for it, and reap the fruits of your labour,
and it will feed you when the starvation
for a job sets in,
and keep you alive during the famine
of a failing family.
The surplus will attract others,
who may come and go, or stay,
seeking only this fruit you’ve toiled over,
to posses as theirs.
The effort you put in
only makes it sweeter.
It will draw in
The Bees- who wish to help
The Grasshoppers- who wish to steal
The Worms- who wish to nurture
The Spiders- who wish to defend, but for their benefit,
and while these are unavoidable,
remember.
You can always remove the pests that plague you.

I've been feeling really down about certain friends, and how they only seem to want to be around me when I draw them things. I figured I would remind myself that I can cut them out of my life if I need.
