A Lesson Unlearned
Of things began
And things begot
What now have we
Wrought?
For all of these
Mistakes we've made.
What things equal,
Have we gained?
A lesson taught,
Yet never learned.
To melt the hearts
Of stone made men.
And so we have reached
An impasse, with fate herself.
And she will cry,
"What have you done?"
And what answer do we have?
For the truth brings only doubt.
Or maybe a reflection of the self.
And what is that?
To lie and cheat and kill it was.
Yet we never learned, and so it Is.
Therefore, no answer comes from us.
So we turn to face the dark.
But now its all in vain,
For these centuries have passed.
And what has changed?
Perhaps the club, but not the man...
