Real Love
I love you
Three words that mean the world
Yet never said aloud
I am alone
No one understands the shame
The shame of not being wanted
Of being the outcast
Of being the “Adult” one
How do I change?
How can I alter my universe to have someone say that they care
That they love me
Time, time is the key
But no one is there waiting
No one notices the girl with her nose in a book
The girl never around,
The girl studying
“What a buzz kill”
“Don’t you know how to have fun”
I do
But my fun is not your fun
Your fun is people I don’t like
Loud music that I don’t understand
And alcohol
Why must everything come at a cost
Why must love be derived in settings that are least desirable
Why must my prince charming be found in a bedroom with an empty liquor bottle.
Love is not lust
Love is showing up and smiling just to make her day better
Love is late night calls, asking about her work
Love is the good days and the bad,
Love is always there through the tears,
Happy and Sad
Love is hard, as well as hidden
But when it shows it’s face
Hold on to it
For it is fleeting.
