The first piece of ice
Walking through a deserted garden
Stark skewed branches
Brown rugose leaves on the ground
December breeze prickling my skin
The world a stage bleak and lackluster
When my eye was caught by something twinkling
Glistering in the frigid sun, the first piece of ice
On a lonely branch, on a weary twig
With icy fingers I break if off
It burns my skin, the fire’s turned on
Crystal clear with pure blue glow
I stare and stare just can’t let go
Deep deep in the offish blue
A dazzling flash of green struck my eye
‘What is it?’I pondered
A letter from spring or a future awaiting?
My thoughts flow as I close my palms
With searing pain, the crystal ball melts into a little pond
And I let the sparking droplets fall
To the bare ground
