“STOP,” screeches my mind.
“We have to,” growls my stomach.
My mind snarls, “Cake donuts are not healthy!”
My stomach snaps, “But they’re so scrumptious!”
Back and forth they go
until my arms interject.
Stealthily they snag a wholesome food.
“Somebody had to stop the argument!”
Defeated. My stomach lets out
a giant roar. The dying sound ceases
when it savors the taste
of a Honeycrisp apple.
