Homeless
Dragging a cardboard sign behind him,
he treads across my backyard.
The dark circles around his eyes
just show, he has been sleepless.
He glares at me hopefully,
pleading for anything.
I feel bad when I say
I don’t have anything.
Homeless and sickly,
he scares away most people.
Keeping watch of his garbage,
and sporting black and white stripes.
He has started sleeping under the deck,
my dad set a trap for him.
I guess I don’t see the problem though,
everybody needs a home.
