Day after day, I dream of him.
While working with barley,
while working with wheat,
while working with rice,
I dream of him.
While sleeping,
while eating,
while drinking,
I dream of him.

His calloused hands,
deep brown eyes,
tousled hair,
musky scent,
and muscular arms,
I dream of him.

I remember…
him by my side
through nightmares, disasters, and labor.
And I remember…
him by my side
through vows, kids, and sunshine.
He protected and cherished me like no other man could.

But how much longer until your return?
My hands are tired,
my feet are tired,
my mind is tired,
and most importantly,
my heart is pained.

My escape plan has been foiled after three years,
my parents are endlessly urging for marriage,
and our son is being threatened by the endless amount of suitors.

Waiting for you
is like waiting for a raindrop in a drought.
Waiting for you
is like waiting for the snow to pass.
And waiting for you
is like waiting for the hyacinths to bloom.
I cannot wait forever.
Please come home
and help me fix everything.
Please come home
and give me a hug.
Please come home
and stay until we die together holding hands.

This poem was inspired by the Odysseus, since we read it in class last year. I hope that people will realize and relate to the woman's longing and desperation for her love to return and "fix" everything, as this scenario can relate to the wives of deceased husbands or men participating in the army, etc.
