I Belong
Flying.
Flying through the air,
Feeling the wind whip through my hair as it trails,
Spirling like a tornado attached to my scalp.
Water.
Droplets dripping down,
Down the lifejacket, down my legs,
Chilled mist bringing goosebumps.
Unbalenced.
Feeling the pull from the rope,
My body jerks forward,
I pull back, unstable.
Speeding.
The motor roaring against the currents,
The skis skipping, trying not to sink,
My knees quiver with the vibrations.
Home.
Where I feel the moisture in the breeze.
I feel alive and welcomed by the speed.
Loved by the unstableness underneath my feet.

I wrote this piece about all my memories of spending my summers in a cottage with my family. Whenever we left it was me leaving where I felt like I belonged, to go where I was trying to escape from. I hope people are brought back to the places the tried to go to escape the life they were trapped in.
