Sharpie
Forget carving our names in trees,
Or on the streets,
Let's do it with permanent marker,
A fine point sharpie will do.
At first we wrote it on a whiteboard,
It’ll last she promised me,
But with one swipe of the eraser and it was like we were never there.
Let's try it again she said,
This time will do it on paper,
It will never fade.
Into the shredder it went,
Blowing up like confetti everywhere.
One more try she begged me,
I was through,
But she pinkie promised,
And I said that will do.
She wrote it on each of our hands,
The blood shining right through.
The water washed it away,
As it slowly dripped on the floor,
With her crystal clear tears.
