I Stare Blankly
I stare
The ideas fade away
They resurface
New, full of wonder
They are thrown back into the dark abyss
Of swirling denial and confusion
I stare blankly
The ideas don’t come
I dismiss them
They are not good enough
To appease the judges inside my head
I stare blankly at the piece of paper
An idea comes onto the paper,
Then leaps off, just out of reach
Heroes slayed by myself
Rather than the antagonists they were supposed to face
