The Poetry of Math
math does not sing to me the way
words do
but watching it laud others
holds a magic of its own
a whirling radian clock
it ticks with each bite of pie,
melting on the tongue
with the ease of a sinusoid
i don’t hear the song of math
but i see it
the interconnected branches
relating the leaves of the world
through rational and irrational
rates that speculate at an attempt
to run a machine
clicking past an illustration
that draws out the definition of
time and space
let me derive an explanation
for the integration of love
throughout humanity
let me connect the points
between memories with
rises and falls of
f(life)
functioning as a tool to measure
happiness
calculate the angle between
me and the sun so
it may shine on my forever
write your answers
in the simplest form
to make sense
of madness
love the madness
as much as you can
because one day it
will begin to unfold into
logical long days
spent laughing
when the numbers are too big
to count on fingers
and you must give in to
a geometric reality
where the sky becomes pixels
that shape the bird notation
of a flying v towards the future
