Goodnight, My Friend
Goodnight, my dear friend,
goodnight.
Close your eyes
and go to sleep.
I promise I will be alright.
Memories of you
will sing me to sleep
with their warm lullabies
You keep away
my demons.
You always hold me tight.
If there was anything
I could do
to show how much I care for you,
I'd do it in an instant
Because thanks to you,
There's no mountain
I can't climb
And no ocean
I can't cross

I got the inspiration for this poem from a friend of mine that has helped me through a lot of anxiety attacks and is always there to comfort me. He lives in Spain, but we stay up late to talk to each other a lot and often end up telling each other goodnight with, on days with particularly bad anxiety or depression from either of us, promises that we'll be alright even when the other is asleep.
