Hold my Hand
Since day one I grasp at the air
I seek an anchor and asylum
I held her hand, she raised me
Fed me and clothed me
Took care of me when I was sick
I held her hand when she gave me life
I held her hand as we walked the parks
To tease and to laugh, dance under a tree
Always there to hold my hope
I held her hand saying death do us part
I held her hand when peace shattered in wind
Her cold grip ever present, ever strong
I held the steel that told me I was safe
But when I held her hand thunder steel come forth
I held her hand when fighting my kin
I held her hand as she stood to sing
A comfort in body, and more so in mind
Words unspoken of past horrors seen
Always hard
I held her hand as I presented a ring
I held her hand as she lay weak but bold
The beeps and rushing bodies around
The ever present doctors alight
The eyes slowly losing sight
I held her hand till warm turned to cold
What hand can I hold
Whether peace or strife
I am alone
