A friendship always starts out smoothly,
Then there are some bumps in the road.
The brakes make some noise,
But then the car accelerates down the road.

After a few bumps in the road,
The engine starts to rattle,
The inside jokes go dull.

At this point in the friendship,
The joy disappears with the miles going by.
The sadness sets in as the car gets noisier and noisier.

There are some bigger potholes in the road,
Some that nearly take your bumper off.
It’s like you wish it didn’t have to come this far.

There’s one big hole,
That seems to rustle the engine.
The anger is building,
As the car accelerates.

Then it all stops.
But you can’t hold it in,
It all comings out,
The brakes screeching to a stop.

You look in the mirror,
And see the memories turn to dust.
Just like that,
They’re all gone.

You get a new car,
A new friend.
Forget the past and the pain it brought.
Hopefully this one won’t fall apart.
