13 Ways of Looking at My Hips
When I hit the ground,
You land on the floor first,
Strong enough to lift me,
Just a smidge off the dirt
Part of me,
Part of my protection
Yet, I suffocate
Your milky skin with my jeans
You determine how I walk,
The outline of my frame
Permanent as scaring tissue
Perhaps that’s why I always run to you
You can't leave me
You won't
You are not temporary
All force against you, you stand
You're not a house of cards
You’ve never crumbled due to my touch
And when the wolves need something to paw at,
You frequently volunteer
When my demons are screaming,
My fingertips come lingering,
To your surrender
You are art alone
You become a canvas
Decorated with pink, blooming flowers
Some parts look as if they are exploding fireworks
You are my secret masterpiece
Because if anyone else had a glimpse of you
They would notice my insanity
You remind me of the girl who broke my heart
At first, I felt numb
Then, I felt the sting and wounds
But you didn't make me question if I was good enough
You're my therapist
You’ve never gave up on me, or turned me away
You're my best friend
You can't disappear, not for a moment
You never will
And that’s why I am infatuated with you
