forget me not,
for i will make myself forgotten
to spare myself the pain.
i will hurt myself so you cannot hurt me.
because i know now,
that i am not the only hands you’ve held
or the only name you whisper to the stars at night.
because your fingers have stroked others’ hair
and traced the outline of their lips.
forget me,
and slowly, sadly,
i will forget about you too.
